Henry Weinfield is the author of several collections of poetry, most recently
The Sorrows of Eros and Other Poems (University of Notre Dame Press, 1999).
His translation of and commentary on the Collected Poems of Stéphane Mallarmé
was published by the University of California Press in 1995 (paperback, 1996). His
verse-translation of Hesiod's Works and Days and Theogony, done in collaboration
with Catherine Schlegel, is forthcoming from the University of Michigan Press. He is
also the author of a critical study of Gray's Elegy and of many articles on English
and American poetry. He is currently working on a collection of new and selected
poems, which will be entitled Without Mythologies. Weinfield is professor and chair
of the Program of Liberal Studies at the University of Notre Dame.
